Absolutely Nothing Artificial

Hello everyone!

For this year's pumpkin art, I decided to do someone who LOOKS scary. Even though Hitsugi is the most cuddly, sweet-hearted thing I've ever seen, he has the LOOK. So, I picked him. X3~!



It took me 5 1/2 hours to carve from beginning to finish.I used a linoleum carving set to do the entire thing. Except, of course, to hollow it out and cut the top :) I used Faber Castell marker to add some red hue to the eyes and makeup.

So....its been awhile, hasn't it? Yeah. Since I last posted, I've been busy! Done a few drawings, a commission, and done some interesting things. I'm meaning to try some stuff soon. Yeah, watch me be awesome. So, hopefully I'll post some stuff later this week.

So, this past Friday Feb 18th, 2011, I had an interesting dream. I keep forgetting to write it down, so I've probably forgotten some of the little details. But basically, it went like this:


I was one of a few talk-show hosts on this Japanese TV show that airs twice a month. There are two other women and two or three guy hosts that work with me, I think two. What we do on the show is invite popular bands in for a sit-down and talk session. Sometimes we talk about their music, but a lot of it is more 'getting to know the bands' stuff. Each show, we come up with a unique thing (or rule) that that band must do while they're on-air. Sometimes they have to wear a funny hat the whole show, or all talk in a funny voice or stuff like that. I think one band one time had to pretend to be another popular band, and came in dressed like the other band for their episode, and made up what they thought the other band would say.

Spent all day out in the garden with my mother, annexing a new area behind our house. We pulled up/dug up lots and lots of bloodweed and johnson grass and cut down some small trees, too. It looks like we got pretty far today. My hands are a bit red, and I've a few blisters, and some cuts and scrapes. Chunk out of my thumb, too >.> But over all, I'm satisfied with what we've got done. Maybe tomorrow we'll finish clearing out the ground and get the soil ready.

So, as part of my 'Blast From the Past' series, I redid an old drawing from 5-6 years ago. This particular piece is 'Angel with the Scabbed Wings', a full-body portrait of Marilyn Manson from his Anti-Christ Superstar days. The original concept came from some of the album art of that album.

Now, compare the two, and see the absolute difference that 6 more years of art experience can do. There is almost no comparison between the two!!

Well, for me it is. I spent the better half of today (well, after 3PM, because that's when I woke up), working out and around in my garden and getting ready for spring. Trimmed deadwood and pruned the rose up, pulled some weeds and got some seeds started in pots. Lots of herbs and veggies this year, I hope. Starting some bell peppers, cilantro and basil so far. I need to get a hold of some more bell pepper seeds, though.
Tomorrow, I'll start more seeds and get outside and try to clear out more garden room. I'm going to extend my garden back and behind my house. I just have to dig up ten thousand lumps of Johnson grass to do it. Better get my shovel ready.
Also today, I got my cat stoned. I've been growing some catnip, and finally picked her some leaves. Smear it all over a tennis ball, and she was in LOVE.

On a side note, remember that SNOW on Feb. 4th? Yeah, the first time it snowed here in 25 years, and my first snow? Have some pictures:

So, I realize I don't post here much. Rather, I spend every waking moment on FB. So, I'll go on ahead and post some of the crap I've been posting there on here. Not that anyone read this thing, anyways >.>

Haha, so now that my dear Grimm-kitty has finally gotten 'roll-over' down, I finally decided on the next trick I should teach her. It is: 'Jump-Through-a-Hoop'! We made really REALLY good progress today, especially after I found her a hoop more suited to her size.
You see, the only hoop I had inside was a giant XL sized hula hoop, big enough for two of me, and absolutely way too big for my cat. I don't think she realized the thin green thing I kept pushing at her was a hoop :/. I did get her to start jumping over it some, but she kept trying to go under or around it.
So, I went outside and dug around some old junk cars, and found this circle thing about 4 inches thick, and a foot and a half wide. Its slightly conical, so one side is a little wider, and that's the side I face towards her. I think that helps her, and the thickness, to see that it something she needs to jump through. (The thing is actually a chrome piece that clips to the rim of your tire to make it look cooler. Then you can put a nice hub cap over that, and its 'fancy' or something. Makes a good kitty-hoop, though!)
So anywho, with the new hoop, there was much more progress, and she hopped through it several times at varying heights, including right on the floor and almost above her head. I even put her on a table, held it horizontally, and got her to jump down through it! Although, there was some extra coaxing involved for that one. So, I don't think it will be long before she starts jumping through without the treats. Yay Grimm-kitty!

Lol, now I can say she does these tricks:

Sit
Stay
Shake
High-Five
Kiss
Hug
Lie Down
Roll-Over
Jump Through a Hoop

Of course, cats are stubborn, and sometimes she refuses to hug or lie down without much prodding, lol. Hoop is, of course, still a work in progress.

So, last night at 3 AM, I was out wandering around for over an hour in the 27 degrees F winter night. Wearing just a t-shirt, jeans, hoodie and converse, I had to wander up and down through a field of frosted-grass looking for a single, long strand of electric fencing wire while my dad chased and caught the stupid horse that had gotten loose. Stupid mare. at least she didn't get any of the others loose with her, although she took off into Raven's pasture (Raven knows better).

So, I drew Minase. Except it doesn't quite look like him, because my drawing is lacking his beauty and elegance. He really is quite beautiful, very angular and all that. So, it is fail!Minase, because I couldn't quite manage to capture those qualities.
